Bug Hunt: Make a list of bugs that you find outside. If you can write a sentence about each bug.
Coins: Please practice naming each coin and its value. We are beginning to talk about money and each table group is named a certain coin. Ask your child what coin is above his/her table.
Numeral Writing: Practice writing your numbers to 30 clearly and trying to do so without any reversals.
If a student is really capable in this exercise, have them write them backwards (from 30 to 0). Keep in mind that when writing a zero, start at the top of the oval and draw around counter clockwise completing the oval. When writing the numberal eight, start by making a "S" and connecting the last line back up to the top.
WRITE IT DOWN! If you went somewhere for the weekend, jot down the fun things you did as a family. If you are planning on some fun times ahead, write them down and your child will likely have great things to write about at school.
Dinner Time Conversation: Dinner time is such a special time for families to gather and share their day together. As students get involved with sports and after school activities, it seems to get more challenging everyday to keep that dinner time protected. Do your best and try to keep the t.v. off during the dinner hour. Stimulate the conversation by talking about the best, worst and funniest things that happened that day. You will be surprised what will come out. Write down the special ones and your child will likely write "just like you did" the important parts of life during our writing time at school.
