Spellingcity.com: There will be two lists beginning this week. One is more advanced and one is a first grade list. I want the kids doing the more advanced list to do both lists, please. The second list has more complicated words that they use in their writing on a regular basis and will help them in their writing. Please select list one or both lists with your child.

TAKE HOME BOOK BAGS: Please read from the books sent home everyday! Also practice the sight words in the small bag on a daily basis as well. We are on a quest to make fluent readers in first grade and this homework is crucial to developing smooth readers. Thank you in advance for your thoughtful care in making sure this happens.
MATH: In continuing with our math vocabulary, we will be using the same concepts as last week. Write out a number line for the kids to use as a helpful tool from 1-20.
How much more is 16 than 8? 18 than 9? 21 than 11? 10 than 5?
How many fewer is 6 than 11? 5 than 12? 13 than 15?
What is the difference between 20 and 10? 15 and 20? 14 and 13?
Count forward starting at: 26, 43, 69 and end after about 5 numbers.
Count backward starting at: 39, 30, 40 and end after about 5 numbers.
How many groups of 10 are in 50? 32? 16?
How many ones are in 18? 7? 29?
Continue making mental math a part of everyday!!
